For as long as I can remember, I've always been fascinated with the human body. As a child, I would spend hours poring over pictures of the different organs, muscles, and bones, trying to understand how they all worked together to keep a person alive and healthy. As I grew older, my interest in anatomy only intensified, and by the time I was a teenager, I knew that I wanted to pursue a healthcare career.

It wasn't until I was in college that I discovered chiropractic. I worked as a trainter at a gym, and a client suggested that I look into becoming a chiropractor because my advice on stretching and movement was similar to the things they received from their own personal chiropractors. I was intrigued, so I decided to look up chiropractic and what was possible. I learned that chiropractors have the ability to open their own businesses and offer way more than just exercises and stretches. I was offered a chance to attend one of the nearby chiropractic college classes, and from the moment the instructor began discussing the spine and nervous system, I was hooked.

Over the next few years, I threw myself into my studies, devouring every scrap of information I could find about chiropractic. I learned about the different techniques used to adjust the spine, and how these adjustments could help alleviate all sorts of health problems, from back pain to headaches to digestive issues.

After I graduated from chiropractic school, I decided to set up my own practice in Virginia. The state was familiar to me because that's where the first part of my Naval career took place—and since I loved it so much then, why not come back? I’ve been practicing ever since, and I’m happy to say that I love my job. It’s rewarding to help people who are suffering from chronic pain find relief, and it’s even better when they can get back to doing the things they enjoy. I’m also lucky because I love what I do. It’s not just a job; it’s a passion. For example, I love the science behind chiropractic care—especially when it comes to spinal adjustments. The spine has so many nerves and connections to other parts of the body that simply adjusting one vertebra can have a huge impact on your overall health.
